About Clare Your Trainer

My first jobs were working in offices, nine to five, I hated doing the same thing day in, day out.

I then got a job which involved driving hundreds of miles every day. I loved being out on the road and away from the office. It was at this job that I met my husband and where I worked when I went on maternity leave.

A while after having my first child I was approached by someone who ran a local youth club asking if I’d like to work a few hours during the evenings. It was perfect as I didn’t need to find childminders.

During my time as a youth worker I took as many training courses as I could, this included trampoline coaching. I also applied to be a co-ordinator for the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. I loved the challenges these roles gave me.

I noticed that once the youth club members reached a certain age they stopped coming to the weekly sessions. I would see these young people around either driving a Vauxhall Nova or pushing a pram. It was then that I decided to train to become a driving instructor, putting two things I loved together, driving and teaching.

I found a company to train me and I’ve never looked back!! This was 27 years ago!!

At first I only taught learners but it wasn’t long before I started to train people to be instructors. When I trained to be an instructor myself I found the training hard and I believe my knowledge as a trampoline coach helped me hugely. You can’t just teach someone to do a back somersault just like you can’t just teach a learner to drive a car.

I knew when I started to train instructors I wasn’t going to let them struggle with their training like I had, I would help and support them and I have done that not only whilst they were training but once they have fully qualified as an instructor and are part of Ladydrive and His & Hers Driving School.

As a driving instructor we have the freedom to work the hours we want to work and we can increase or decrease the hours we work to fit around our home lives and financial commitments. If you think that you’d like to work for yourself with the support and backing of a well established company, please contact me.
